Ruby Girl Flowers was founded in 2016 by Emily Sams Brown.
Emily began creating paper flowers as a hobby in 2012. She would turn book pages, theatrical programs, and other special pieces of paper into unique gifts. When she developed a proprietary varnish to preserve the flowers, and her friends and family began requesting custom arrangements, she decided to make it a business, and named her business after her sweet and wonderful dog, Ruby. Ruby passed away in 2023 at age 16, almost all of which was spent as Emily’s dear companion.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Emily began experimenting with other forms of floral art. She especially came to love working with dried flowers in epoxy resin to make gorgeous, lightweight jewelry.
Amidst raising two wonderful girls, she continued to refine her process, and taught herself to create a website, until it was finally ready to launch publicly in 2024.
Ruby Girl Flowers is currently a one-woman-does-it-all operation, though getting to this point wouldn’t have been possible without love and support of her family and friends, particularly her father Garvis, her sister Amy, and her husband Dan (whose contributions included writing this bio).
